Rest Peace, John Aubry
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Montague Center resident, and our local mayor, John Aubry. When I lived there he was always around on his bicycle keeping me and others up to date on what was going on in the village, though you never heard it from him. If the basement light was on at the Grange, he would bike over and let me know. If a fire truck went by, he would dismount and salute. He was kind and gentle, a real patriot, and will be missed. I’m glad I knew you, John.

Police Community Engagement Survey
The Police Community Engagement advisory committee has posted a survey here:
https://docs.google....aQpNe332iVe5VKQYLT5s
that they're hoping will be filled out by anyone who has had interactions with Montague police. You don't have to be a Montague resident, and they're interested in everyone's experience: good, bad, or indifferent.

Support Local Eateries!
Every Montague restaurant/cafe/food establishment needs our support to keep running if we want these businesses to stay afloat (during the pandemic and after). Please keep ordering out from them when you can - and don't forget to tip.

Millers The Move
Catch the first installment of "Millers On The Move", a column produced by the Millers Falls Community Improvement Association, in this week's Montague Reporter. Our plan is to report on changes underway in our village, so that people can be informed and village residents can participate as they see fit. Feel free to give us feedback -- our Facebook page and email address are listed in the article. Enjoy!

Millers Falls Survey
The Montague Planning Department and RiverCulture are beginning to "explore opportunities to improve Millers Falls", and to that end they have put together a survey that they're encouraging village residents and business owners to fill out. The survey can be found online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MillersFallsVC, and paper copies are available at the laundromat, the Whistle Stop Café, and the Millers Pub.

The deadline is next Tuesday, July 2, and they are hoping to get as many responses as possible so they can get an idea of what sorts of changes or improvements villagers would like to see. The next step, as I understand it, will be to identify specific projects and then look for funding sources. They are planning to hold a public meeting/forum later in July to go over the results of the survey and to plan next steps.

If you have questions, or would like more information, you can contact Walter Ramsey at the Montague Planning Department or Suzanne LoManto at RiverCulture (which is now part of the Planning Department): riverculture@montague-ma.gov.

Celebration Don Clegg’s Life
Wow! How did I miss this? Don Clegg passed away?!? No!!!

I met Don the day he walked through the doors of MCTV back in the summer of 2006. He was looking for things to do in town, and soon became the stations premier Super Producer, creating all kinds of content to air and bringing in more producers to do the same.

That same summer Don also got involved in the Franklin Area Survival Center, and then the Montague Reporter in March of 2007. In fact, if you do a search for his name at the Reporter's new online archive, his name appears 444 times:

https://montaguereporter.org/?s=clegg

He was also involved in the MontagueMA.net website, having joined in January of 2007. He posted 362 messages on the corkboard and several thousand calendar events, having taken on the role as Calendar Master for years (even being paid to do that for a year).

This post from April of 2007 shows what he was all about...

http://www.montaguem...cs=12&ID=14874&g=192

Don was a smart, funny, hyper-involved individual in Turners Falls, and he and I had many long conversations about town politics, tv production, community spirit, and life in general.

Thank you, Don Clegg, for everything you did for Montague, and for your friendship. You will be missed.

Boston Globe Article Pioneer Valley
Hello all,

You may have seen the Sunday Boston Globe Magazine article on the Pioneer Valley but if not you can view it here. The article , of course , has left out a lot of good info: Alvah Stone, Blue Heron, Discovery Center, and Turners Falls in general.
