Precinct Voters
I have been a Town Meeting member for over twenty years, and I am up for re-election this year. I thought I had done what was necessary for my name to appear on the ballot, but I guess there was a slip-up somewhere because my name is not there.

You can vote for seven people, and there are six names on the list. Please consider writing me in: Michael Naughton, 11 S Lyman St, Millers Falls. I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue to have a voice in the affairs of the town, and to represent the interests of Precinct 2 and the entire town to the best of my ability.

Thank you very much for your support.

Summer Jobs For 14-year Olds?
Does anyone know if there are summer jobs around here for 14- year olds? I know years ago they could work tobacco (and buses even came by some places to pick them up), but that was a while ago. Wondering what the current situation is. Thanks in advance for any information.

The Young Shakespeare Players' "Play On" performance from 2020 is now available on the MCTV Vimeo page. This youth theater group typically performs at The Shea Theater, however last fall, they teamed up with MCTV to create a film composed of scenes from many different Shakespeare plays. The actors learned to storyboard, score, light and shoot a film, and must be applauded for this thoroughly entertaining and impressive piece! To learn more about The Young Shakespeare Players group, visit youngshakespeareplayerseast.org.

The Montague Selectboard meeting from 3/15 is up on the MCTV Vimeo, as well as The Montague Finance Committee and The Police Equity and Use of Force meeting from 3/11/21.

There is a lot of new music up on the MCTV Vimeo page this week. "Northern Roots" is a Traditional Music Festival out of Brattleboro VT, featuring a variety of northern musical traditions including Irish, Scottish, English, French Canadian and Shetland. Also up on MCTV is the new video album, "Still Romantics" by Brattleboro musician, Chris Weisman. Weisman collaborated with MCTV as well as with local musician Omeed Goodarzi and audio engineer Elie Mcaffee-Hahn to record a performance that was cancelled due to Covid. The performance was recorded in front of a green screen, allowing each song to become a music video created in a different style. The town meeting recording are available for viewing, including the Gill, Montague Regional School District, The Montague Finance Committee and a joint meeting with the Montague Selectboard and Board of Health.

Week February 22-28, 2021
This Week, MCTV is featuring the work of Bret Leighton, former longtime editor and producer at MCTV, who has regretfully passed suddenly. We want to honor him for his years of dedication to the TV station and our community. Three episodes of "The Madison Show", which was produced by Leighton in 2015, are linked to the MCTV Facebook page. The show is hosted by local art legend, Rodney Madison, who tours the camera around the village of Turners Falls, as he visits friends on the street and in his shop, "Madison on the Ave". The Ave looks different these days. Now, "Texture Hair Salon" occupies 100 Avenue A, where next door a new MCTV original is being filmed. Now on it's 5th Episode, "Fabric'sCool", the instructional and anecdotal series by "Swanson's Fabric" owner, Kathryn Swanson, airs on Channel 17 on Fridays at 11:30 am.

In sports, the Turners Falls Girls play basketball against Mahar, and the Boys take on Pioneer. The past three Selectboard Meetings from Gill are now available, as is the most recent video meeting from The Police Equity and Use of Force Advisory Group. All community members are welcome to submit their videos to be aired on Channel 17, as well as featured on the MCTV Vimeo page. MCTV is always available to assist in local video production as well. Cameras, tripods, and lighting equipment are available for checkout, and filming and editing assistance can be provided.

Remote Town Meeting
Just wondering how other town meeting members feel after the two "practice" meetings we had to learn the technology for a remote town meeting. I'm feeling fairly confident that I'll be okay, but there seemed to be a range of abilities, largely based on differences in equipment and internet connections (I was using a Windows 10 laptop with Comcast internet). And a related question: should the goal be to get through the meeting if at all possible, or to make sure that as many members can participate as possible, even if that means postponing the meeting if too many people have problems?

If people don’t have the connectivity or technology, you can always go to Town Hall (call, first) and use one of the Chrome laptops they have.

Double Standard
Got to love it. In the last couple weeks there were articles in the Greenfield Distorter how local business's have donated goodies to the hospital. They told me I COULDN"T bring in boxes of goodies for my nurses in Oncolgy. I suppose I'm not important enough. I am only a lowly patient. Stay well....

This week in MCTV, the Turners Falls girls basketball teams face off against Hopkins, while the boys play against Pioneer. The school nurses have created a video that details the new COVID precautions that the schools will be requiring for reopening. Find the video titled "GMRSD Covid GFMS TFHS" on the MCTV Vimeo page to review the new mask wearing, hand washing and symptom check procedures required at all Montague Schools. There are new videos of the Police Advisory Committee meeting, the GMRSD meeting, the Selectboard and the Finance Committee meeting.

due to snow trash schedule will be off by a day for rest of week.

Also kids get a snow day. I guess if it is not safe for some essential people to get to the physical school then kids still get a snow day even though still in remote learning.
